Community Development guides physical growth in the Village. Staff review subdivision and zoning applications, issue building permits, inspect construction, and enforce property maintenance standards.
Planning & zoning
Staff process rezonings, special use permits, variances, and subdivisions; coordinate Plan Commission review; and maintain the Unified Development Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan.
Building permits & inspections
Permits are required for new construction, additions, decks, fences, sheds, pools, water heaters, furnaces, electrical service upgrades, and most other improvements. Staff are happy to confirm whether your project requires a permit.
Property maintenance & code enforcement
Code Enforcement responds to complaints about tall grass, junk vehicles, unsafe structures, and similar concerns. Reports may be submitted online or by calling Village Hall.
